Malicious Security Crackers: "We used to take an account and try out about 40,000 passwords on it in about 5 seconds to see if it would unlock. LJ doesn't let us do that anymore. Damn that LJ! We'll show them! Here, have a malicious script!"
Malicious script: *takes 5 most commonly used passwords, tries them on 40,000 different accounts*
4000 LJ accounts: *unlock*
Malicious Security Crackers: "Score!"
LJ Geeks: "O RLY."
LJ: *stops allowing even remotely easy passwords*
4000 LJ users: "Hey! That was a perfectly good password! Why'd you make me change it?"
LJ Support: *facepalm*

Normally it would only show it in your style if you have the setting to always append style=mine to the url when you visit comments pages (it's set on your edit info page). Is that option still set for you? If so, is the style=mine bit getting added to links on your friends page?

Yup, I've just been and checked, and it still is. I think how it always used to behave was that if I clicked on read comments it would show in my style, and then if went to comment, that would display in my quickcomment in my style.

Bizarrely though, if I click on view comments from a post on your friends page (in your style) I then see it in my style??

Well, style "yours" is the "yours" of whoever the "you" is logged in. Transparent to the person whose friendslist does the thing, transparent to other people who have this as their default, but can be confusing for innocent bystanders.
