Went to the cinema for the first time in a long while last weekend and saw Baby Driver with Alex. Apart from one bit toward the end which I felt like went on a bit long/was a bit over the top, I really enjoyed it - the way the sound track was used was really effective. I guess that is the main thing about the movie, but it really did work well. That's not to say that it didn't have problems - the female character was basically a cypher and I found her easy and immediate commitment to Baby to be rather unbelievable. I found his relationship with his foster dad, as something that felt more interesting and more earned.

This week, I've been mostly watching poker online - ever since Vicky Coren-Mitchell's win at San Remo a few years ago, I've really rather enjoyed watching it on TV, and today's final table is really fun (in a pretty crazy way). I've even played a bit online for play money, which can be really fun, although never for real money - I'm OK, but not that good. It's the thing where you can most tell if I've had a drink - I rarely notice any kind of diminished capacity from alcohol but it definitely makes me more reckless and less good at judging the odds.
