Well, not literally, obviously.

Ask me a question and I will answer it honestly, if I can.

A question, a question for you!

So, borrowing a question from L'Auberge Espagnol ...

What do you want to be doing in 5 years' time?

----

And on a more personal note - how likely do you think you & Alx might come out to SF again for a visit; if so, when, if not - why not?! ;-)

Work wise, I'd be happy to still be at the same company in five years time, preferably still as a developer. I'd like to be either in or actively looking to by my own house with Alex. And I'd like to be in the black (not including mortgage).

I'd like to visit San Fransisco again, but I don't think it's likely to be soon as neither of us have much spare cash at the minute and we have many things to save up for. But someday, yeah I would like to return.

re: work - yeah, it's a great jazz to gain proficiency and are able to answer unexpected questions confidently and correctly. :-)

re: SF - yeah, fair enough ... just know that my own window of stay is starting to shrink - you may have to visit me in Switzerland instead of San Francisco in 2 years' time. :-)

(bring on the struggle with Deutsche, let alone Schweiz Deutsche! ... if it weren't such a headache, maybe I should grapple with French again instead. lol. *g*)

Who are you?

(No wise-ass "I am Jo" type answers, please!)

Hey...sorry, stumbled across your LJ through random surfing... erm, just noticed you had a post about Neverwinter Nights. It seems that, although I know nothing about it, it's everywhere this weekend for me. But there again, I did spend the weekend reading all of www.megatokyo.com, which mentions it a fair few times...

so, what's all the fuss bout this game?

Actually, I'm finding it hard to put into words exactly why I'm having such a great time with it. There's a lot of tactics to it I guess and a lot of head work - puzzle solving style stuff - that sucks you into the plot of the whole thing. From my point of view, since my computer reactions are pretty sucky, the fact that you don't have to do the actual fighting yourself is good - you just decide who you want to fight and then let the computer do all the dice rolling etc so you don't have to actually be able to hit things yourself. The in-game characters mostly have annoying voices but the interaction/conversation options in the game are really pretty good, especially the way you can get different options depending on how smart or charming you are. Plus, it is very gorgeous and looks amazing on my shiny new screen :)

I guess basically they've managed to pull off a really good accurate simulation of D&D and I enjoy it for most of the same reasons I enjoy real life roleplaying. If you like roleplaying then I would say that you'd almost certainly like Neverwinter Nights. If it leaves you cold then you're unlikely to go for it.

Also, hi :) Welcome to my journal - always nice to meet new people.

How tall (or short!) are you? :)

In real life, I'm 5'3" or thereabouts; it originally evolved because I'm the shortest person in my family, particularly compared to my brother, who's 6'4" but it's come to mean a whole state of mind :)

hi,

can i use some of your icons? would you like me to credit you? the ones i would like are keywords: "sunflower" and "_support,charlie,computer cat".

oh, and i'm trying to decide to work on my weight - i was always thinish until after my second kid at age 41 and now 8 years later even more over weight (and partly frustrating because the actual pounds aren't hidious (i know that's good health wise) but it all sits on the front of my stomach like i'm pregnant again - like a basketball. i think the way i'll start up is to get a designated small notebook and right EVERYTHING down and, like you i don't have an exercise that i love but i could do the walk around the block thing - boring though, not a very interesting block.

You're welcome to use the one of Charlie - that's one I took myself. I'm not sure where I got the sunflower one but I think it was an icon sharing community of some sort so go ahead and use that as well :)
